About Katherine Buesser

Dr. Katherine Buesser is a board eligible orthopaedic surgeon and orthopaedic traumatologist. She received her undergraduate degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. She completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital/St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where she was Orthopaedic Chief Resident. She also earned her fellowship certification in orthopaedic traumatology at Washington University. She joins the Hughston Clinic from her fellowship training.

Dr. Buesser is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. Dr. Buesser has published her research in international publications. Her clinical and research interests include the effect of mental health on the physical recovery of orthopaedic trauma patients, and whether biological age or chronological age is a better predictor of outcomes after orthopaedic trauma. She plans to continue her research interests through the Hughston Foundation, Inc.

Outside of work, Dr. Buesser is a highly accomplished hockey player at the collegiate, professional and international levels. She also enjoys spending time outdoors hiking or on the river, live music (bluegrass and electronic music specifically), and playing cribbage with her extended family.
