About Benjamin Debelak
Benjamin P. Debelak, DO, received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI, and he received his medical degree in osteopathic medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He completed his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency from Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. Following residency, he came to the Hughston Foundation for a one-year orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship. After receiving his sports medicine training he returned to Michigan to work as a team physician and surgeon. Most recently, he worked in Waynesville, NC, as director of sports medicine for the Haywood County School District.
Dr. Debelak is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Debalak is also certified in Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery.
Dr. Debelak has a passion for sports medicine and the health of athletes. He is currently serving as team physician for Pope John Paul II Preparatory School in Hendersonville, TN and Welch College in Gallatin, TN. Additionally, he has treated athletes and worked with the sports medicine teams of Central Michigan University, Michigan State, Valdosta State, and Columbus State University. He also treated professional hockey players and provided team coverage for high school athletes in Georgia, Michigan, and North Carolina. Dr. Debelak devotes his practice to sports injuries and the care of athletes.
